Importing Sites from Previous Versions of WebDrive

Question

I’ve upgraded to WebDrive Next Gen, but on a new system. How do I export the old sites and import onto the new system?

Answer

If you are upgrading on the same computer that has WebDrive 2019 (or earlier) installed, you can simply install WebDrive Next Gen on the same computer and the existing sites will be imported automatically. If you are upgrading WebDrive versions as you move to a new computer, you can use the steps below: 

Steps

  1. If you have not yet installed WebDrive Next Gen on the new computer, skip to Step 2. If you already Installed WebDrive Next Gen, uninstall it. Now go to this location in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\South River Technologies\WebDrive

  1. Change "NextGenPrompted" and "NextGenUpgraded" to both be 0. If they are already 0, that’s fine.

  1. On the old computer, export the sites of interest. To do so, right-click on the site of interest and select “Export Site Profile”. Repeat this step for each site of interest. Send these sites via email or shared files method to the new computer.

  2. On the new computer, install your currently operational WebDrive 2019 (or earlier) and restart when prompted.

  3. On the new computer, import the sites of interest. You can simply double-click on the .wdsp file to open them with WebDrive, or right-click in the main UI and select “Import Site Profile”. Repeat as necessary.

  4. On the new computer, install WebDrive Next Gen. The sites will be imported.
